How are you this fine day? I'm just back from 'BNI' (Business Networking International) and had a chirpy 6am start to the day. As you may know I lurve working in my home office with the internet BUT I have to tell you that getting out there & networking (chatting) with other business owners is mega too.
 
With so much focus on the internet these days it's easy to forget how powerful face to face networking can be. I had a major AHA moment at about 7.30 am as a result!
 
I realised that the biggest benefit I've received by being an active member of a Networking Team for so many years is the leadership and presentation skills I've developed.
 
Being able to stand up in front of a room of strangers and introduce yourself and convey your message with confidence is something I could not have done years ago.  I have the late Jim Rohn and other mentors to thank for inspiring me so much that I overcame all of the personal challenges that would otherwise have knocked me out of the business.
 
So today I'd like to encourage you to develop those skills. If you're in a networking business (MLM) then make sure you take advantage of the chances to step up and develop those skills in a safe environment. You won't get those sitting at your laptop but once you have them you'll be able to use them in your internet marketing, on the phone and of course face to face.  It's easy to miss this if you're a newbie and are not attending local or national company events.
 
BNI is a brilliant platform for those looking for local support and a referral exchange system so you have plenty of ways to get out there and meet people. I haven't been to Toastmasters but I'm told that's also a fab setting for developing the same skills.
 
Make sure you have your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) ready for your 60 second chance to say who you are and what you do. (See Step 3 of last week's article and this will be covered in detail in my new guide)
 
Apologies if you've received the ezine in a jumbled format lately. I've recently switched to a new template and am still trying to master the finer arts of adding my content! Bear with me - I promise it will be worth it.

9 Steps to Your 'Niche Expert,' System - Part 2

Read Part 1 for Steps 1-5 of your Niche Expert System

Step 6 - Become an authority in your niche.  
 
This is establishing a firm foundation for your business. Creating your platform is something that I believe to be essential for your long term marketing strategy.

In the same way that when you neglect offline networking you're missing out, if you don't create a marketing funnel and platform to attract and market to your ideal prospects on auto-pilot, you will be missing out on huge leverage.

There are multiple ways to add value to your online presence and establish yourself as an expert or authority. Creating a Wordpress blog, a special report or other free giveaway plus client attractive marketing materials that deliver your unique selling proposition or 'elevator speech' will put you streets ahead of the rest.  (You'll be a niche expert!)
 

Step 7 - Attract Hot Prospects into your Database

Well first of all have you got a database? If you haven't you're marketing with a leaky bucket. No sooner will your prospects be in touch than you'll have lost their attention if they don't buy immediately. It's impossible to stay in touch regularly with all of your contacts. Implementing an email marketing solution and database will allow you to develop relationships easily by staying in touch.

Develop your database or list because this really is your long term security, when done right and you implement the other steps in The Niche Expert System.

How about traffic to your website? It's all very well having a lovely website but what are you doing to generate leads and attract clients?

Creating your personalised marketing game plan and adding in a mix of steady and instant traffic generating methods is the key.  Have you a clear and simple marketing plan? That's the document you must create, or risk being lost in the wilderness with your marketing. It's easy to put it off until tomorrow but the smart business owners take some time out of 'being busy in their business' and get busy on their marketing game plan.  Here the guidance of a coach is invaluable because a good marketing coach can see things about your business that you usually can't identify!
 

Step 8 - Convert Prospects into Clients, Buyers & Opportunities

Lots of traffic to your website is fabulous but what about converting visitors into leads and leads into clients or buyers?

Many business owners fall down flat on their face here due to lack of planning.  By planning your online buying process, the path you want your visitors to follow you can experience much greater lead & client conversion rates.

If you're a person to person service such as a coach or consultant, map out how you are going to connect with your ideal prospects. Once you have clarity on this and there are simple steps for them to follow you'll be able to easily convert the right prospects into the perfect clients without being salesy.

Build credibility and trust by implementing long term systems for staying in touch such as in Step 7. Think of ways to engage your target market so that you develop a loyal tribe of raving fans who buy from you and happily recommend you.
 

Step 9 - Systematise your Marketing so it works on Auto-pilot

Doesn't that sound lovely? Well it is! Yes it takes some time to set up the steps in The Niche Expert System but once you do you'll be working less, charging more and able to 'cherry pick' the clients and projects you most enjoy working with. 

By creating your marketing game plan and social media strategy you'll be able to gradually add in new marketing methods to your plan so that you have systems in place to attract new clients and buyers for your products.

It won't be all about where you physically can be because you'll have so much marketing out there working for you 24/7 that you'll be able to take time out to do the things you really love doing, without having to chase after the business. You can set this up so people contact you and before you know it you'll be perceived as the expert in your niche that you truly are.
