If you just joined my ezine list, welcome and thanks for checking us out!  It's been a fascinating week in the world of social media and I've written an article for you about how to avoid wasting your precious time in the virtual world.

I joined Empire Avenue last week, after resisting 1001 new social sites, this one grabbed my attention. I will post a blog all about the benefits of this new site soon but in the meantime trust me and pop over here: Empire Avenue

It's f-ree, there are no catches and its looking to be the next BIG one. If you're still trying to figure out how to tweet, never fear (dear) just grab your unique name or 'ticker' and keep an eye on what's happening over there. Connect up your social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Linked In. I think Empire Avenue will turn out to be a great tool for newbies & online experts alike because it rewards you for taking the right social media actions and so makes it obvious what to do to build your networks.

Look me up over there and invest in me because my shares have shot up to 51 in just a few days and I've barely got going yet. This is all in virtual currency called 'Eaves' so you won't need to take a loan but you will get a lovely dividend. :)

Other than that I've been switching over my complete wordpress site to Optimise Press. I've been using Optimise until now just to create easy capture and sales pages but it is that good I decided I need to use it as my theme on my main website and blog. A bit of a headache as are all things technical but I'm reaping the benefits already.

If you're starting out online OR want to create a website that YOU control and can update without html coding or paying a techie fortunes every time you need a tweak go for wordpress.org and optimise press as your theme
and training platform.


I give a lot of details about setting up your marketing funnel in the right order in The Niche Expert Book about this but OP provide detailed, succinct and SHORT (under 5 minute) video tutorials so even if you're a complete technical wombat you can set up your website, blog and capture pages by yourself.

 
Local Networking
 
I joined a wonderful new networking group for women in rural enterprise, 'WIRE.' If you're in the UK and 'in the sticks' look them up and I highly recommend you go along and check out your local group. They have a valuable market place for you to promote your services online too.
 

 
Product Creation
 

Last but not least I have something mind blowing for those of you who want to go one step further than just attracting clients or customers online. If you've got the information marketing bug and want to create your own products that sell while you sleep and package your expert knowledge into a book, audio or online course (etc.) then check this out.

I nearly missed it and have only just managed to watch the f-ree videos myself but they are awesome.  There will be a product launch here but just watching the videos will be a f-ree lesson of the most valuable stuff in info marketing which has taken me years and thousands of dollars to accumulate. WARNING. Only go here if you already have your basic marketin funnel in place and are ready to start creating your own products - otherwise you risk overwhelm and I promised to help you gain clarity! Is The World Of Social Media a Great Big Waste of Your Precious Time?
 

I never cease to be amazed by the fascinating virtual world and as someone who spends a lot of time in it I sometimes wonder if it's taking over my reality!

It was easy to turn my nose up at Vampire games and Farmville; I mean they are not for serious business owners, right?

Then along comes Empire Avenue and I was addicted on the very first day!  The good news is that using this new social media site you can measure, track and build your social influence so it's actually a good investment of your time.

It's becoming more and more challenging with the thousands of online options vying for your attention to decide where indeed you should be spending your time for best return on it.
 
Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Empire Avenue and oh so many more ...  Where do you get started?
I'm fortunate as I got ahead of this curve and established myself on the main networks before most people took them seriously so it makes it easier to just add in a new one now and then.
 
I resist adding in more social media sites into my social media strategy unless I really see the benefit because unless you invest some time each day or week into engaging with your potential clients on these sites, they will not be very valuable to you.

So what can you do to avoid falling into the trap of spending hours on social media and just wasting your valuable business and marketing time?
