Hello hello
I'm writing you from my garden today. The sun is touch and go but I'm praying for more touch even as my sun hat threatens to fly off my head!
So here's the thing. Everything is changing SO FAST.
You've probably noticed and wondered, 'How can I keep up and stay relevant online?'
Well that is indeed a good question and as I'm dedicated to helping you get your big message out with your small business, today's challenge gives you my top tip for staying relevant in this fast moving world.
If you're not sure what I mean just think about Lucy Spraggan's little ditty on X-Factor on Saturday. Her first time on the big stage and she already has three, YES 3, of her songs in the top 10 & she doesn't even have a recording contract!
The same is happening on Amazon with the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. Whether these 'interesting' genres are for you or not is irrelevant.
The point is ANYONE with some talent and savvy can leverage the new media big boys such as itunes and Amazon to get their stuff out their globally and instantly.
So how does this help you with your small business?
You need products to sell too.
Whether you're an author, an artist, a speaker, a coach, a consultant or a small business owner of some other type you're either selling products online or you're missing out.
And here is how you keep up and stay relevant:
Create products (substitute the word products for whatever you sell or want to sell) that are EVERGREEN.
Now most experts forget to mention this little acorn because they're often so enthusiastic about their training course of the moment they just leave it out.
I've never been a guru and I have no aspirations to be one but I know a thing or two about creating and selling products online whether they be books, memberships, weight loss programmes, information products or you name it.
I've sold a ton over the years and have been in multiple niches as an author, product creator, distributor and affiliate.
And this is the big thing I want you take from today's challenge. If you want to stay relevant online you must have stuff to sell that isn't just the fad of the month.
Otherwise you will drown in the new tools and tech shifts.
I've got books selling that I wrote 3 years ago and I'm writing more and creating more products in multiple niches because why wouldn't you if you've got something valuable to share?
Ok so maybe today's challenge is a bit of a rant and I've not even sent you to the blog to read it as I really want you to GET this.
Creating products that are here today and gone tomorrow will not give you long term security and recurring income.
Even if one of your niches is related to tech or online marketing like me - I still make all of my products and training with that in mind.
Tools will change but teaching people the fundamentals of your topic and how to think won't.
So what's your first or next evergreen product going to be?
You need more than just selling your time unless you're happy working solely on a time for money basis.
Hello-ho? The internet is here!
Have a good think about these perplexing issues this week and jot your answers down on paper or pod...
What's your online business model?
I've been thinking how I can most help you in light of the cataclysmic changes that will be sweeping our way this coming year.
And I've decided to offer you more of me in 'real time,' & at smart prices because then you can get instant feedback and I love working with you when I'm not in my creator's cave :)
Look out for more details coming soon of new personalised one time classes on specific topics I'll be offering in September.
Based on the survey results you were kind enough to share with me, the best way I can help you get a fast start after a perhaps slow Summer is to offer live one on one sessions by Skype.
There'll be a selection of specific topics including how to figure out your online business model and how to make your first (or next) product to sell online. (This is NOWHERE near as hard as it sounds!)
If that sounds like something that you'd like to get more info on then be sure to email back and let me know as it will be limited to a handful of doers who are ready to rock.
If there is a specific topic to do with any of the topics I cover that you're stuck with and would like my ear and some coach-consulting style advice to help you get unstuck then name your topic & I'll put a session together for you.
And in the meantime if you haven't figured out your online business model the Niche Expert Quickstart is an excellent place to START.
Thanks for being a loyal reader. I appreciate you so much.
Love and success
